Why is Our Approach Unique?
An underlying principle is that unlike most artificial intelligence approaches, we do not depend on a model or map. Rather, our behaviors are inspired by biological systems where skill is ingrained through immediate interaction with the real-world. The benefit is that unlike systems that require GPS and accurate maps, we can use low-cost sensors, do not require accurate positioning and are much more robust in the face of uncertainty. Our behaviors are also more responsive because they do not mediate action through a sophisticated map or model.
